Accurate transom bolt is a device, mortised into the header of a double door that contains a spring-loaded ball on one end and a round bolt on the other end that interacts with a catch on top of the active door and a strike on the top of the inactive door respectively. When the ball is depressed, the corresponding bolt projects, and as the ball is released, the bolt retracts.
